National TV Ratings (March 31): Moon of Desire Pilot Beats Villa Quintana by Wide Margin

ABS-CBN shows were the top 4 most watched programs nationwide on March 31. “Dyesebel” topped the list with 33.1%, its highest national TV rating so far since it premiered last March 17. It was followed by “Ikaw Lamang” (28%), “TV Patrol” (26.9%), and “Be Careful With My Heart” (19%).

The return of “Meteor Garden” scored 16.2% national TV rating, beating its rival shows in GMA, “Innamorata” and “The Borrowed Wife that only rated 9.3% and 9.6%, respectively. The pilot episode of “Moon of Desire” garnered 16.6 national TV rating, or almost 7 points higher than GMA’s “Villa Quintana” (9.7%).

Meteor Garden Fever Hits the Philippines Once More, Barbie Xu Tweets Support

The Meteor Fever is officially on! Filipinos all over the world warmly received the return of the “Meteor Garden” on Philippine television Monday afternoon, as part of ABS-CBN’s celebration of more than ten years of Asianovelas in the country.

For its pilot telecast, “Meteor Garden” hit a national TV rating of 16.2% compared to two of its rival programs from GMA, “Innamorata” (9.3%) and “Borrowed Wife” (9.6%), according to data from Kantar Media.

The phenomenal Taiwanese series also trended worldwide via social networking site Twitter and swept five out of the top ten worldwide trending topics.

Even Shan Cai herself, Barbie Xu, showed her support and tweeted about the much-awaited comeback of “Meteor Garden.”

“I heard the Philippines is going to play ‘Meteor Garden’ again. Thank you for your overwhelming love and continued support. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as you loved it ten years ago. Thank you and I hope to see you again soon,” said Barbie in her personal Twitter account @itsbarbiexu.

Nostalgic tweets poured from netizens who reminisced their younger years back when the Meteor Fever first hit in 2003. Filipinos online also raved about the gorgeous boys of F4, Dao Ming Si’s pineapple hairstyle, the red card, and even requests for the Asianovela’s weekend replays.

ABS-CBN’s newest afternoon series “Moon of Desire” also created a buzz last Monday after it launched back-to-back with “Meteor Garden.”

Viewers warmly received the story of Ayla (Meg Imperial) and scored 16.6% in national TV rating vs GMA’s “Villa Quintana” with 9.7%. The show also landed a spot in the top Twitter trending topics worldwide.

Meteor Garden Premieres March 31 on ABS-CBN and Jeepney TV

On May 2003, Meteor Garden changed the landscape of Philippine television. This summer, the Asianovela that started it all will return to the First and True Home of Asianovelas, ABS-CBN.

The Meteor Fever is back with the comeback of the original F4 Jerry Yan (Dao Ming Si), Vic Zhou (Hua Ze Lei), Ken Zhu (Xi Men) and Vanness Wu (Mei Zuo) with Barbie Hsu as the strong-willed girl Shan Cai. 

For the first time, Meteor Garden will air on two channels (on the same day)—ABS-CBN and Jeepney TV. Catch the premiere of Meteor Garden this March 31 on ABS-CBN after It's Showtime and on Jeepney TV at 8:00 pm.

The funny love story between an ordinary guy and a mythical creature called ‘gumiho’ returns in afternoon TV as ABS-CBN, in celebration of its more than a decade of being the first and true home of Asianovelas, brings back the hit Koreanovela “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” beginning Monday (Mar 17).

The series hasn’t started yet but it already landed among the top Twitter trending topics worldwide recently after netizens tweeted it upon seeing a teaser plug aired on ABS-CBN.

Re-experience the romance and relive the 100 days spent by Dae Woong with Mi Ho to return a favor after the gumiho saved his life.

As Dae Woong gets to know Mi Ho more, he falls in love with her despite the odd fact that she is a nine-tailed fox guised as a beautiful woman.

But Mi Ho’s desire to become a normal human being gets in the way and after their 100-day long pact, Dae Woong’s life must end before Mi Ho gets what she’s been wanting for in her eternal life.

This is the ultimate throwback! In celebration of 10 years of being the first and true home of Asianovelas, ABS-CBN proudly brings back the Asianovela that started it all, Meteor Garden.

Meteor Garden is a 2001 Taiwanese TV adaptation of the hit Japanese shōjo manga series, Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango), written by Yoko Kamio. The said drama starred Barbie Hsu as Shan Cai, Jerry Yan as Dao Ming Si, Vic Zhou as Hua Ze Lei, Ken Chu as Xi Men and Vanness Wu as Mei Zuo.

First aired in the Philippines summer of 2003 and went on to be the highest-rating Asianovela in the country, Meteor Garden returns on ABS-CBN this March 31 airing after It's Showtime. There will also be a primetime telecast on Jeepney TV at 8:00 pm.

The F4 fever is coming back on Jeepney TV. The one which started it all, Meteor Garden will be returning to the First and True Home of Asianovelas via Jeepney TV.

Jeepney TV promised to air the phenomenal Meteor Garden if the channel's official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/JeepneyTV) page reaches 25,000 LIKES.

Meteor Garden is a 2001 Taiwanese TV adaptation of the hit Japanese shōjo manga series, Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango), written by Yoko Kamio. The said drama starred Barbie Hsu as Shan Cai, Jerry Yan as Dao Ming Si, Vic Zhou as Hua Ze Lei, Ken Chu as Xi Men and Vanness Wu as Mei Zuo.

Meteor Garden first aired in the Philippines summer of 2003 on ABS-CBN. The show is the highest-rating Asianovela in the country. The popularity of this TV drama started the so-called "Asianovela Craze" and "Meteor Fever". ABS-CBN later showed its sequels, Meteor Rain and Meteor Garden Season 2, which became successful as well.

Replays of the show also aired on GMA Network and its defunct affiliate channel QTV-11 (now GMA News TV). Other remakes of the manga also aired in the Philippines—Boys Over Flowers (South Korea) via ABS-CBN and Hana Yori Dango (Japan) via GMA-7.
