Pokwang to Work with American Actors in Movie 'Ms Edsa Woolworth'

After winning international critical acclaim for her powerful performance in the drama, “A Mother’s Story”, which garnered 18 FAMAS nominations in 2012, actress-comedienne Pokwang was tapped anew by TFC@theMovies to star in its second film offering, Ms Edsa Woolworth.

Pokwang Stars in TFC Movie Ms Edsa Woolworth

According to film director John-D Lazatin, who also received a FAMAS nomination for his direction of “A Mother’s Story,” shooting for the new family romantic comedy film will begin this May in the U.S.

Asked why Pokwang was chosen again to star in TFC’s new movie, Lazatin replied: “Pokwang is one of those rare gifted, versatile actresses who is very relatable.  Moviegoers identify or empathize with her characters.  Her on- and off-screen personas are also very positive that she’s able to inject humor and lightness even in the face of most dire challenges in life.  She projects the character of our overseas Filipinos that TFC serves worldwide.”

While production remains tight-lipped about the exciting film project, Lazatin shared that Ms Edsa Woolworth will have a strong Filipino and American cast.

A bit of reveal about the title: Pokwang plays Edsa (short for Epifania de los Santos) whose mother remarried an American named Frank Woolworth. The comedy focuses on the interracial relationships of three adult Filipinos taking care of their white stepfather.

The film will be released later in 2014 as part of TFC’s 20th anniversary celebration.  More information on Ms Edsa Woolworth coming out soon on tfc-usa.com/AtTheMovies.

An intense series of challenges recently came to a close among twelve hopeful finalists who made it through to the MYX VJ Search this year.

Newest MYX VJs: Luigi, Vieo and Gianna
At the MYX VJ Search 2014 Finals, MYX finally declared that three of these twelve would become the newest VJs, namely Luigi D’Avola, Gianna Llanes, and Vieo Lopez of the number one music channel in the country.

After the announcement of the search’s winners by MYX Channel Head Andre Alvarez, VJs Luigi, Gianna, and Vieo are now the newest members of the MYX family and are currently gearing up to take on their newest adventure.

VJ Luigi, in tears when his name was announced, is also a singer and songwriter who was a nominee at the MYX Music Awards earlier this year for the Favorite New Artist and Favorite Mellow Music Video categories. After a warm embrace among all the other finalists, Luigi showed his appreciation for each and every one.

VJ Gianna was a former radio DJ and is an A.B. Communications student at the Ateneo de Manila University. Ecstatic and surprised at the announcement, she described how things went right before the finals took place. “I even cried when I had to talk to Sir Andre alone. But I need to say thank you to everyone that supported me—it always brightened up my day,” she said.

For VJ Vieo, the announcement of his name proved the 23-year old’s determination during the competition, as this had been his third time to audition for the MYX VJ Search. Grateful, he expressed, “I think the best thing that I can say is that, if you wanted something – you go get it. No matter how many times you fail, keep trying, keep doing it, go get it.”

Catch MYX’s newest VJs Luigi, Gianna, and Vieo only on the country’s number one music channel, MYX. To get to know more about them and to keep up to date, visit the channel’s official website at www.myxph.com.
