Posted on January 17, 2014 | 11:04 AM

It's not anymore Sisterakas. The record as the Philippines' all-time highest grossing film is now held by Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy starring Vice Ganda portraying four characters with different sexual orientations.

The achievement was announced during a thanksgiving party attended by box office director Wenn Deramas, ABS-CBN executives including President Charo Santos-Concio, Star Cinema head Malou Santos, and June Rufino of Viva Films which co-produced the movie.

According to Star Cinema, Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy, an entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) made history on Thursday as the highest grossing Philippine film of all time. The movie has earned P427 million since opening on Christmas Day.

Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy, which was hailed MMFF 2013 2nd Best Picture, may not be the festival's top grosser but in the days leading up to the closing, organizers reported that the movie ruled daily grosses. The two-week festival closed with Vice Ganda's movie just P450,000 short of the gross earnings of top grosser My Little Bossings. [Click here for the MMFF 2013 Final Gross tally]

My Little Bossings, starring Vic Sotto, Kris Aquino, Bimby Aquino Yap and Ryzza Mae Dizon, has also crossed the P400-million mark, making it the second highest-grossing film in history. Sisterakas, which also stars Vice Ganda and Kris Aquino, as well as Ai Ai Delas Alas, now settles in third place.

'Sisterakas' Poised to be Philippines' Highest Grossing Film of All Time

Posted on January 6, 2013 | 12:48 PM

Star Cinema and Viva Films' Sisterakas starring  Kris Aquino, Ai Ai Delas Alas and Vice Ganda is now on track to becoming the Philippines' highest grossing film of all time. The blockbuster comedy is said to have surpassed the P300 million mark in less than 2 weeks.

Sisterakas

In a recent Twitter post by one of its lead stars Kris Aquino, Sisterakas had already grossed more than P320 million. The Queen of All Media thanked the fans for their movie's box office success.
With this feat, there's a huge possibility that Sisterakas will bump off Vice Ganda's The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, currently the highest grossing Filipino film of all time.

Also directed by Wenn V. Deramas and featuring Vice Ganda, The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin 2011) earned P331.61 million after its local theatrical run, according to data from box office tracking service Box Office Mojo.

Sisterakas will be showing in theaters in about 4 weeks and with that span of time, surpassing the record of The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin is no moon's throw.

Kris Aquino Reacts on Teodoro's "Bad" Review of Sisterakas

Queen of all media Kris Aquino took to micro-blogging site Twitter her dismay on a recent review of her movie Sisterakas written by J.I.E Teodoro and published on GMAnetwork.com last December 31.

Kris Aquino

In her official Twitter account, Kris shared a link of the said article and encouraged her followers to read the piece. In a reply to one of her followers, Kris said that the piece is not a review but more of a personal attack against her.

"Read the piece. Simple reply, how sad for him because i'm here to stay & will try my best to bug him for many yrs more!," shared Kris. "Actually it wasn't a review, more of a personal attack against me, that's y [sic] I am grateful to my audience because u [sic] negate his view," replied Kris to one of her followers who said that the review is biased.
Teodoro, a professor and blogger, in his review said that Sisterakas is a "shamelessly 'money-trip' movie" that is purely driven by profit with Ai Ai Delas Alas as the only "saving grace." Teodoro also wrote that Kris Aquino is the "greatest disgrace" of the movie as she cannot deliver punchlines and awkward in doing comedy, which he said is a far more difficult genre than drama or horror.

As a message to Teodoro, Kris said that she will never leave showbiz to bug the reviewer. "That’s y [sic] I want to be around to give him so much more reasons to be bitter- hehehe," Kris said in a reply to a fan.

"OA na hatred for me diba? Hehehe- kaya para lalong mabwisit by February i’ll be on TV 12X a wk! Kris Tv(5), KKI(5) & PGT(2)," Kris told MJ Felipe.
