ABS-CBN Master Teleserye 'Ikaw Lamang' Lauded by Viewers, Netizens

ABS-CBN’s master teleserye “Ikaw Lamang” quickly captured the hearts of TV viewers as the premiere of the series starring Teleserye King Coco Martin and Teleserye Princess Kim Chiu won the national TV ratings and became a hot topic on social media.

According to data from Kantar Media last Monday (March 10), “Ikaw Lamang’s” pilot episode scored a national TV rating of 27.4%, or almost 12 points higher than its rival program on GMA, “Carmela” (16.1%). The show also conquered social networking sites such as Twitter, where the hashtag #IkawLamangGrandPilot became the number one worldwide trending topic.

TV viewers and netizens alike praised the story, casting, cinematography, musical scoring, and production design of ABS-CBN’s master teleserye.

For award-winning director Jerome Pobocan, “Ikaw Lamang” is the must-watch teleserye of the season.

“The scenes are beautifully photographed and sensitively directed. It is a magnificent display of thespian craft by both its young and adult stellar cast,” said Direk Jerome.

Entertainment editor Dindo Balares, on the other hand, shared that what he loved the most about the series is its main theme. “The story is epic. It mirrors the huge difference between the lives of Filipinos who are extremely wealthy and extremely poor.”

Meanwhile, TV viewers will surely be more hooked on the thickening plot of “Ikaw Lamang” now that Coco, Kim, Jake Cuenca, and Julia Montes will soon appear in the series as the friends Samuel, Isabelle, Franco, and Mona.

How will time change the good relationship of the four kids? Will their bond become stronger over time, or will it be broken because of their families’ differences?

Jericho Rosales Portrays Jesse Robredo in MMK (March 23)

ABS-CBN’s longest-running drama anthology will present the inspiring and empowering lifestory of the late Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary Jesse Robredo this Saturday (March 23). 

Award-winning actor Jericho Rosales will play as Sec. Robredo, while Kapamilya actress Kaye Abad will act as Robredo’s wife Leni. How was Sec. Robredo’s simple lifestyle and strong leadership molded by his family and his experiences? How huge was the part of his wife and her three daughters in his success? 

Aside from Jericho and Kaye, also part of the Jesse Robredo Story in “MMK” are Yogo Singh, Spanky Manikan, Alyanna Angeles, Nikki Bagaporo, Trina Legaspi, and Richard Quan. Slater Young, Dimples Romana and Ian de Leon on MMK this April 28

Maalaala Mo Kaya continues to present socially relevant issues with its weekly episodes that do not only entertain but also reflect the real struggles and triumphs of the ordinary Filipino people.

After recently featuring stories about the strong bond of a gay with a lesbian sibling and the inspiring experience of a teenage mother, “MMK” shares this Saturday (April 28) another empowering tale, this time about a woman who bravely decided to end her marriage for her to live again.

Topbilled by Dimples Romana and Ian de Leon, this week’s episode is about the misery that a battered wife had to go through the process of annulment. In the story Michelle (Dimples) filed an annulment case against her husband who was perennially beating her all throughout their marriage. Along the ordeal, she met a lawyer named David (Ian) who, like her, just came out of a bad relationship. As both struggle with their own failed romance, Michelle and David found themselves falling for each other. Amid the disapproval of their families and the judgment of the society in their budding relationship, can Michelle and David prove that their love is genuine? Is there life after a failed marriage?

Meanwhile, TV viewers, especially the loyal followers of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) will surely anticipate this week’s “MMK” episode as the said reality show’s latest big winner Slater Young takes on his first role in the top-rating drama program.
